Her Story-Description:
The original owner of this bicycle was an American woman who lived in Turin, Italy, for a few years. She used it mainly for her daily commute between home and work, enjoying the calm rhythm of city rides along the Po River and through the old streets of Turin. When she returned to the United States, she left the bike with a local friend who kept it safely stored all these years. Despite its age, it has remained in remarkably good condition — clean lines, original parts, and a quiet strong well-built Japanese bicycle. It’s a lovely example of everyday Japanese craftsmanship from that era — simple, genuine, and made to be ridden. Perfect for anyone who appreciates vintage bicycles with a bit of story and soul. The bicycle is still in great condition and rides perfectly well, nothing needs to be done, it’s ready to go. It’s built in heavy steel but it is incredibly strong and smooth, and it is basically suitable for any kind of terrain, for flat and for climbing. It is 100% original in all the parts, I just changed the tyres.
The Shogun name debuted in the USA circa 1977. I guess the American owner of this bike brought it to Italy when she went to live there because I never saw this brand before, a unique piece. Most of the Shogun bicycles were manufactured in the late seventies up to early nineties and according to the serial number with the starting letter “M” it seems that this bicycle is of the 80s. This Shogun bicycle with serial number M4C18745 was likely manufactured in Japan. Shogun is a brand that originated in Japan, founded by Rio Marui, and their bikes, including vintage models, are known for their quality and craftsmanship.
